For this assignment, you will read and critically reflect on a peer-reviewed article. The
articles are posted on D2L under “Course Content”. This assignment is intended to
expose you to literature that contributes to our understanding and practice of
epidemiology; and then be able to synthesize and communicate the information.
Complete the assignment using your knowledge of epidemiology concepts and how
they relate to population-level (public) health.
First, read the article. Then review the questions outlined in this assignment. Re-read
the article carefully so that you understand its purpose and main points. Answer all
questions thoroughly, but be concise and abide by the specified sentence lengths.
Assignments must be your own work.
Limit answers to two sentences.
1. What is the main topic being discussed in this article?
2. How does the topic (above) relate to epidemiology? (hint: think about the
definition of epidemiology and in the context of exposure and outcome.)
3. What is one way that future epidemiology research/practice might address the
problem/limitation (above)?
4. Briefly describe one point that was particularly interesting to you.
5. The authors noted limitations to their study. What were the limitations identified
by the authors?
